A Look at Our First SpringHill Suites by Marriott Hotel

Originally, an all-suite hotel featured guest rooms with a separate bedroom. Recently, the industry’s definition of suite evolved. M&R’s first SpringHill Suites by Marriott is an example of that change. Marriott International calls the SpringHill room a “spacious studio suite,” larger than usual single room, with distinct areas for sleeping, relaxing and working.

The concept has proven wildly successful. The SpringHill Suites New York Midtown Manhattan/Park Avenue, which M&R opened last year, features 129 suites. It is the brand’s fourth hotel in Manhattan, located on East 24th Street in walking distance of the United Nations, Empire State Building and Grand Central Terminal.

With 30 brands under its umbrella, Marriott classifies SpringHill as part of its select-service tier, along with its Courtyard, Four Points, and Fairfield brands.

According to General Manager Robert Solis, the hotel’s studio suite design has proven popular with both business and leisure travelers. Business travelers like the extra room that allows them to work, while leisure travelers appreciate the brand’s stylish approach to design, which is influenced by the West Elm retail brand.

SpringHill Suites guest amenities include complimentary breakfast, complimentary wireless internet, 24-hour fitness center, airline reservation desk and onsite laundry. Guest rooms feature 55-inch HD televisions, safes, minifridges, microwaves and coffee makers. Like all Marriott brands, SpringHill participates in the Marriott Bonvoy frequent guest program, which rewards members with points that can be redeemed for free stays and other benefits.
