Each year, M&R managed hotels play host to a variety of school groups, mostly at the high school level. Some are sports teams visiting the destination to participate in a competition while others are reward trips for students who achieved their academic goals.
Expanding the Marriott International brands it manages, M&R this month will open the 182-room Le Méridien New York, Fifth Avenue at 292 Fifth Ave. between West 30th and West 31st streets in Midtown Manhattan.
A virtual meeting to launch the Open Enrollment period for 2023 benefits will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, for eligible employees. The M&R Human Resources team will discuss benefit options and answer questions. The meeting will be offered in English and Spanish.
Kamal Rayavarapu was appointed general manager of the Fairfield by Marriott St. Louis Collinsville, IL, this fall after serving in the same role some 720 miles away at the Comfort Inn hotel in Towson, Maryland, then managed by M&R.
In the middle of the night last month, the DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West’s fiber telecommunications network crashed, shutting down its television, internet, telephones and property management system. It was the kind of unexpected emergency that can give any general manager nightmares.
With Thanksgiving a nonsectarian holiday focused on thanks and gratitude that everyone can enjoy, M&R general managers took the opportunity to display turkey and pumpkin decorations in their lobbies and break rooms and to host team lunches with menus featuring traditional holiday favorites.
Jeff Dziak, a 30-year hospitality industry veteran, has been appointed general manager of the company’s 182-room Le Méridien, New York, Fifth Avenue, opening this month. Jeff formerly was general manager of The Knickerbocker in Manhattan and earlier served as a general manager of hotels in Houston; Teaneck, New Jersey; and White Plains, New York.
