It was just one year ago that M&R’s Human Resources department was renamed People & Culture as part of the company’s commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace that values employees as people, not just resources.
Cleo Clarke, vice president of M&R’s People & Culture department, oversees the global human resources function and its strategic direction. When he joined the company in 2021, he brought with him a people-first, customer-first philosophy. His vision was to create an environment where employees feel supported, engaged and empowered to achieve their full potential. That vision led to changing the Human Resources department name to People & Culture.
Mureka Walcott, M&R’s corporate director of People & Culture, is a hospitality industry veteran who has served the company for 10 years. Her area of responsibility spans the states of Missouri, Indiana, Illinois and West Virginia. She also supports M&R’s corporate offices and oversees the administration of all company benefits.
Neil Genel, who joined M&R in 2022 as its first corporate recruiter, has been promoted to talent acquisition manager, responsible for attracting top talent for the company’s 32 hotels and two corporate offices in New York, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois and West Virginia.
As regional manager of People & Culture, Roma Owsianowska’s goal is to make sure employees at every level know there is someone in the company they can contact when in need.
Sandra Quinones, People & Culture manager at the Tarrytown House Estate Hotel on the Hudson, is responsible for supporting the workforce of approximately 110 employees.
Calvin McBurrows oversees the management of all payroll-related issues and employee finance activities. With meticulous attention to detail, he processes employee checks and benefits and ensures everything runs smoothly and accurately.
