General managers have many responsibilities critical to the success of their hotels, not the least of which is mentoring their team members. Employees at every stage of a career benefit from the insights and direction of a thoughtful mentor.
When Bassem Baiady, revenue analyst at M&R’s DoubleTree by Hilton New York Times Square West, completed the Dopey Challenge at Walt Disney World in January, it was only the most recent milestone in his favorite after-hours pastime: running marathons.
Since M&R’s Fairfield by Marriott New York Manhattan/Central Park opened in 2016, its lobby bar, Bar 58, has grown in popularity, both among hotel guests and neighborhood residents, who often socialize there.
The brands represented in M&R’s portfolio – Fairfield, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Radisson, TownPlace Suites, Comfort Inn, Le Méridien, Hyatt Centric, DoubleTree, SpringHill Suites, Days Inn, Best Western and Holiday Inn – each advertise carefully crafted brand promises, sometimes called mission or positioning statements.
Ask Brian Athas about the important role revenue management has come to play in helping determine room rates today, and he will explain that, until a couple of decades ago, the analytical tools to make that happen didn’t exist.
Since opening last year, the 182-room Le Méridien New York, Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan has been garnering positive guest reviews. One review, posted on Google in late January, awarded the hotel a perfect score.
As expected, most M&R employee benefits involve people, associates and their dependents. Those benefits include life insurance, disability insurance, doctor visits, hospital stays, prescriptions and dental and vision care.
