Housekeepers' Week has been celebrated in the U.S. for 41 years. This year it was Sept. 11-17. M&R values its housekeepers and breakfast attendants as “the heart of the house,” whether they are employed directly by M&R or work on a contract basis as employees of an outside agency.
When people think about employee benefits, they tend to think of medical and dental benefits, given their importance to associates and their families’ health and well-being. M&R offers extensive coverage in these areas for eligible employees. But M&R also offers eligible associates a range of other useful benefits, including to help with commuting costs.
Hotel reviews on TripAdvisor, Google and other travel websites tell general managers a lot about guests’ experiences: what they liked and what they thought fell short and could use improvement. Guests often will praise team members as a whole, thanking associates for their service and thoughtfulness.
M&R continues to make promoting from within a high priority as a way of motivating associates to go “the extra mile,” and in the process build a career in hospitality. Zonia Batres joined the company in 2017 and is an excellent example of an employee who benefitted from the promote-from-within strategy.
