Anil and Andy Persaud: Like Father, Like Son

Andy Persaud joined M&R in March 2018 and today is chief engineer at the Fairfield New York Manhattan/Central Park. A year later his father, Anil Persaud, joined the company and today is engineering supervisor at the Holiday Inn New York City – Times Square. The two hotels are roughly a mile apart on Manhattan’s West Side. They are likely the only parent and child working at different hotels within M&R.

Both find their work satisfying. Anil said the most challenging part of the job is “room calls,” when he is called to guest rooms to make repairs. Andy particularly likes the small construction projects engineers are called upon to do.

“My Dad taught me so much,” Andy said. “With his years of experience, he is my role model.” For his part, Anil mentioned more than once in a brief interview how proud he is of his son.

The inevitable next question: Do they talk about work after hours, especially considering they share a two-family home, along with their respective wives and children? “Home is home and work is work,” Anil said. “But we do make exceptions,” Andy added.
