Brooklyn Team Members Celebrate Five-Year Anniversaries

Two dedicated employees at the Comfort Inn Prospect Park – Brooklyn share a special milestone: Housekeeping Supervisor Filomena Giurbino and Engineer Martin Lovelace recently celebrated their five-year anniversaries with the hotel.

“Filomena and Martin are very dear to this hotel,” said Ciera Bush, the hotel’s sales manager.  “Both have shown tremendous pride in their roles, and their contributions have shaped the hotel into the welcoming, well-maintained property it is today.”

Filomena, affectionately known as "Mena," is the heart of the hotel’s housekeeping department, and her dedication goes far beyond her job description. Known for her willingness to assist across all departments, Filomena has a reputation for stepping in wherever needed, always with a smile and ready to lend a hand.

Filomena’s daily commute from New Jersey to Brooklyn is a testament to her dedication, showing just how much she values her role at the hotel. Despite the long journey, she arrives each day with energy and enthusiasm, ready to greet both her colleagues and guests.

In addition to her exceptional housekeeping skills, Filomena is always looking for ways to improve the hotel’s performance. She contributes not only her time and effort but also her ideas, playing an important role in helping the hotel improve its scores and reputation.

For Engineer Martin Lovelace, the Comfort Inn Prospect Park is more than just a workplace, it’s a place where his engineering skills shine and make a daily impact. Martin, who has been with the hotel since its opening, is the go-to person for any maintenance needs, earning the nickname “MacGyver” from General Manager Kemol Dixon, much like the resourceful TV character from the 1980s show with the same name who found a fix for just about anything.

From performing preventative maintenance to power-washing the building, Martin’s work is essential in keeping the property in good condition. “Whether it’s fixing a minor issue or tackling a more complex repair, Martin’s expertise and quick thinking have made him an invaluable part of the team,” said Ciera.

Outside of his engineering duties, Martin goes above and beyond, such as assisting with breakfast service. According to Ciera, Martin’s willingness to pitch in whenever needed speaks to his versatility and team spirit, making him a vital asset to the hotel.

“Here’s to Filomena and Martin—cheers to five years of outstanding service, and to many more,” said Ciera.  “The Comfort Inn Prospect Park is proud to have them as part of the team.”
