Comfort Inn Prospect Park - Brooklyn Welcomes New GM
Kemol Dixon, a 32-year hospitality industry veteran with extensive experience with select-service and upscale brands, is the new general manager of the Comfort Inn Prospect Park - Brooklyn.
He joins M&R from the Hotel Indigo NYC Downtown - Wall Street, where he was a member of the opening team, serving first as director of operations and subsequently assistant general manager. Prior to that, he was operations manager of the Holiday Inn Express New York City - Wall Street, which he helped reopen after the COVID pandemic.
Earlier in his career he was housekeeping director of the Sheraton Brooklyn, where he managed a staff of 44.
Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express are brands of IHG Hotels & Resorts. Joining the Comfort Inn Prospect Park -Brooklyn gives Kemol experience at a Choice Hotels International brand. (M&R’s portfolio also includes the Comfort Inn JFK Airport.)
A native of Jamaica, Kemol began his career in Ocho Rios, on the north coast of Jamaica, in 1991, working his way up from sports director to executive assistant manager at resorts under the Sandals and Couples brands, which both named him Manager of the Year.
Referring to what he calls his “passion for charity,” Kemol is a strong supporter of Clean the World, a recycling program supported by M&R that distributes soap and other hotel toiletry items to people in third-world countries.
He believes in helping team members feel valued through regular, one-on-one communication and learning each associate’s background and goals. “The best on-the-job training is ongoing and includes recognizing individuals—and the team as a whole -- for a job well done,” he said.
Kemol earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management at Monroe College, New Rochelle, New York, and an associate’s degree in hotel and restaurant management at Hocking College, Nelsonville, Ohio. Outside of work, he pursues his interest in music.
