Culinary Team Members Promoted at the Tarrytown House Estate Hotel

In a display of hard work and dedication, two employees from the culinary team at the Tarrytown House Estate Hotel on the Hudson have been promoted, marking exciting milestones in their M&R careers.

Situated on 26 acres overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York, the historic hotel dates to the early 1800s and specializes in conferences, meetings and weddings. It enjoys a very busy food and beverage operation, especially this time of year.

Ely Antonio Martinez Garcia, who started as a dishwasher in the hotel's bustling kitchen, was promoted to cook II after demonstrating his ability and keen interest in the culinary arts. Ely, who has been with the hotel since August 2016, is known for his strong work ethic and willingness to offer kindness to all his colleagues. By always lending a hand when someone needed help in the kitchen, Ely started cooking and eventually earned his promotion to cook II. His journey, which went from washing dishes to training other dishwashing staff and now preparing dishes for guests, has inspired colleagues and earned the respect of the kitchen team.

Similarly, Francia "Yuriy" Sarmiento, formerly a cafeteria attendant, also was promoted to cook II. Yuriy’s journey at the hotel began two years ago, in July 2022, when she started working in the cafeteria, offering assistance and excellent service to other members of the staff. Now as a cook, she consistently prepares delicious lunches for the team. Because she also is skilled with technology, she assists staff in using the Paychex payroll app. Yuriy has even referred people for open positions who were eventually hired and made great additions to the team.

Both Ely and Yuriy have been praised by the hotel management for their dedication and positive attitude. Their promotions underscore the hotel's commitment to recognizing and nurturing talent from within its workforce.
