General Manager Appointed at Holiday Inn New York – JFK Airport Area

Andrew Hickey, an 18-year hospitality industry veteran, has been appointed new general manager of the Holiday Inn New York – JFK Airport Area in Jamaica. He previously was general manager of the Best Western Plus Hospitality House in Manhattan.

During his career, Andrew has filled a range of positions at branded and independent hotels in and around New York City. Before joining the Best Western Plus Hospitality House, he served the Best Western Mill River Manor in Rockville Center, New York, as operations manager and general manager. Earlier, he was front desk manager at the SoLita SoHo Hotel in Manhattan. He began his career as housekeeping supervisor at the Sheraton Brooklyn New York Hotel.

Looking back, Andrew credits the many mentors who guided him as he moved up the ladder. Now he would like to fill the same role for others. “Mentors helped shape me,” he said. “Today, sharing knowledge with staff members, teaching them what I’ve learned, has become a top priority of mine. I want them to know they have my complete confidence and trust as they do their jobs every day.”

A native New Yorker, Andrew is a graduate of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and hitting the gym.
