GM Appointed at the TownePlace Suites New York Manhattan/Times Square
Steven Lamour, a 22-year hospitality industry veteran with extensive experience with Marriott International brands, has been appointed new general manager of the TownePlace Suites New York Manhattan/Times Square.
Steven joins M&R from the dual-brand SpringHill Suites Manhattan/Chelsea and TownePlace Suites Manhattan/Chelsea, where he was hotel manager for two years. He is well-acquainted with the expanding Times Square market, having served as assistant general manager of the Element Times Square West, also part of Marriott, earlier in his career.
Earlier in his career, Steven worked in hotels franchised by Hilton Worldwide and IHG Hotels & Resorts in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Wisconsin.
Steven cited enhancing the guest experience as his number-one challenge: “Post-pandemic, we again have the opportunity to offer guests a true New York experience,” he said. The hotel is close to the Broadway theaters, the Javits Convention Center, Madison Square Garden, Macy’s, New York Penn Station and Hudson Yards.
He also is focused on employee training and development. “Together, customer service and employee service are the foundations of a successful hotel,” he said. “They lead to increased revenue and loyalty – loyalty on the part of both guests in the form of repeat business and employees in terms of greater retention and internal promotions.”
Steven earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Rutgers University. He is fluent in Creole, a reflection of his Haitian-American heritage.
The 114-room TownePlace New York Manhattan/Times Square has been part of M&R’s portfolio since it opened in 2018. It holds the distinction of being the first TownePlace in Manhattan and welcomes both transient and extended-stay guests.
