Holiday Inn Times Square Says ‘Thank You’

The Holiday Inn New York City – Times Square’s general manager, Felix Maldonado, and Vanessa Ng, assistant general manager, believe in showing appreciation, both to guests and the hotel’s staff.

Complementing their Guest of the Day initiative, which recognizes a guest who is a member of the brand parent’s frequency program, IHG One Rewards, Felix and Vanessa launched what they call Appreciation Cards, which they present to staff members who accomplish challenging tasks, show overall improvement or maintain a sustained level of excellence.

One card simply read, “You are awesome. What you do is amazing,” while another card declared, “You rock.”

Rocky Caban, front desk supervisor; Andy Ortega, engineer; and Radia Zahir, sales coordinator, are among the recent recipients.

“At the other extreme, associates can just be having an off day and receiving a card can remind them their contribution is still valued,” Vanessa added.

“We all like to be acknowledged,” Felix said. “But given how fast-paced the life at a hotel can be, such gestures can be overlooked. These cards are our way of being sure to say thank you.”
