Introducing Hotel Alameda, An Oasis at the High Line

The Hotel Alameda at the Highline, the newest hotel in M&R’s portfolio, has new branding, including a fresh logo and marketing designs that reflect the hotel’s connection to Latin American culture and hospitality.

The name Alameda embodies a unique blend of heritage and artistry. The hotel’s owners, who hail from Mexico, were inspired by a 50-foot mural in Alameda Central, Mexico City's first city park, which is built on an ancient Aztec marketplace. Entitled “Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Park, the fresco was painted by Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, the husband of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.

Guiding the hotel’s rebranding is David Ruas, a 25-year hospitality industry veteran who was recently promoted to area general manager overseeing both the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square South and Hotel Alameda at the Highline. Under David’s leadership, the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square South was honored as M&R’s Hotel of the Year in 2023, a testament to his commitment to excellence. Now, as he steps into his new role, he aims to enhance operational efficiency and foster a guest-centric culture at both properties.

Located at 518 W. 27th St., Hotel Alameda at the Highline offers a contemporary design, rooftop bar and Mediterranean restaurant with scenic city views, all-day café and underground bar. Plans for an updated rooftop pool, set to open in summer 2025, promise to further enhance the guest experience.

David said the hotel is poised to attract local artists and nightlife enthusiasts, echoing the energetic spirit of its Chelsea surroundings. “The hotel’s target market will cater to a younger, more vibrant customer including local artists drawn to the area’s heavy nightlife scene,” he said.

One of the hotel’s biggest draws is its prime location near the High Line, a linear park built on an abandoned elevated railroad line that connects Chelsea Market and Hudson Yards.

David believes this is an exciting time for M&R employees that will bring professional opportunities as the company continues to grow and diversify its portfolio. “I want to thank M&R for the opportunity to showcase my skills,” he said. “The transitioning team has been incredibly supportive. As we continue to grow, I know there will be even more opportunities for employees.”
