M&R Opens SpringHill Suites Hotel in Times Square and Names GM
M&R has opened the 170-room SpringHill Suites New York Manhattan Times Square at 223 West 46th St. – its third SpringHill Suites hotel in New York – and named 12-year hospitality veteran Tanya Jamal as general manager.
The hotel targets primarily leisure transient guests with amenities including complimentary hot breakfast, wireless internet, 24-hour fitness center and contemporary furnishings by the West Elm retail brand. Its Lobby Bar 46 serves cocktails and tapas.
Tanya previously was general manager of the 615-room Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, New York, where she consistently exceeded revenue targets and fostered a positive work environment that prioritized employee morale.
Earlier in her career she held management and operations roles at Marriott, Hilton and IHG hotels in New York and Teaneck, New Jersey. She began her hospitality career as a restaurant host at the Marriott LAX in Los Angeles before being promoted to bartender and moving to New York where she was a front desk agent at the Crowne Plaza JFK Airport New York City hotel.
Tanya is especially excited about her “very service-oriented and friendly staff,” which she said will “deliver the high level of service guests have come to expect in the market.”
Tanya “thrives on chaos” and loves the hectic pace and uncertainty the hospitality industry brings. “What I like best about the hospitality industry is that there is no routine,” she said. “No two days are alike. I am happiest when my hotel is at full capacity, or oversold.”
M&R also manages the SpringHill Suites New York Midtown Manhattan/Park Avenue on East 24th Street and the dual-branded Residence Inn New York Queens and SpringHill Suites New York Queens in Long Island City.
