M&R Welcomes Gabir Boyer as Vice President of Finance
Gabir Boyer, a 20-year hospitality veteran with expertise spanning finance, asset management, real estate, private equity and operations, has been appointed M&R vice president of finance. He will oversee financial reporting, treasury management, hotel accounting, financial modeling, compliance and audit functions.
Gabir succeeds Ron Kozinski, who is retiring after 11 years as M&R’s vice president of finance.
Throughout his distinguished career, Gabir has managed complex portfolios, led multimillion-dollar acquisitions and development projects and driven substantial financial and operational improvements.
“My background extends beyond finance and accounting,” he said, highlighting his specialization in asset management. “Unlike traditional finance and accounting, asset management goes beyond simply reporting numbers accurately and on time; it’s about interpreting the numbers to understand their implications for an owner’s bottom line.”
Gabir describes himself as “somewhat of a chameleon” within the industry, enjoying and valuing the collaborative relationships asset management fosters with owners. “In asset management, we take a different approach: analyzing numbers to provide meaningful context and insights that guide strategic decisions,” he said. “That’s the part of my work I find most fulfilling.”
Most recently, Gabir served as principal and head of asset management at EOS Investors in New York, where he oversaw projects totaling over $356 million. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of finance and asset management at Denver-based Northwood Hospitality, where he managed portfolios valued at over $1.7 billion and led several transformational renovations.
Gabir’s career began in 2004 at Hersha Hospitality (now HHM Hotels). During his eight-year tenure, he advanced from accounts payable to management roles, eventually serving as the regional director of accounting overseeing financial reporting and compliance for a portfolio of 43 hotels across the U.S.
Gabir earned a Master of Business Administration degree in accounting at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and a certificate in hotel real estate investments and asset management at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.
Gabir said he has consistently maintained a focused and strategic approach in all aspects of life and work. His guiding principle is to be “purposeful and intentional” in all he endeavors. “What drew me to M&R was the people,” he said. “There’s a sense of alignment from senior leadership down to the support staff. There’s a shared commitment to excellence and a collective effort to drive the company’s success.”
